I appealed through (the now defunct) Visa Simple, my favorite bank at the time and still among one of my favorite FinTech iterations of the last 10 years. (In this space, I’m easy to please.) I also informed Venmo since grifters work outside of the Airbnb platform with promised “discounts”. They along with the police got sent all of my photos of the check and screenshots of the text conversation where he said he’d refund me…yadda yadda.
Verdict: he’s our customer and not you; ACH is non-reversible; and silence.
Whatever. Keep the change.
